Refund Policy
Nothing on this site is for sale, so there is very little to refund. This page covers the one case that does come up: money sent voluntarily, by mistake or otherwise.
Nothing to buy
Member accounts are free. Reading, running the tools, writing reviews, and following people are free. The verified badge on a business listing is free too — it is granted automatically once a business proves it controls the domain it claims, and no payment is involved at any point.
We do not hold card details, because there is no card form anywhere on the site. Contributions arrive over UPI or PayPal, which handle the payment entirely outside this application.
Contributions
Anything sent through the Support Us page is a voluntary contribution towards running costs. It is not a purchase, it buys nothing, and it comes with nothing attached — no tier, no badge, no effect on any rating, review or listing.
Because of that, contributions are generally non-refundable. We would rather be plain about it than imply a returns policy that would make it look like a transaction.
When we will send it back
You sent it by mistake. Wrong amount, wrong number of zeroes, meant to send it to somebody else — tell us within 7 days and we return it.
You sent it twice. A duplicate is obviously a mistake, and we return the second one whether or not you spot it first.
It was not you. If somebody used your account or your device without permission, we return it and remove the record.
You expected something for it. If any part of the site left you thinking you were buying something, that is our failure of wording, and you get it back.
When we will not
Because of a review you received. Contributions never influenced moderation, and a refund request over an unfavourable review is asking us to prove otherwise.
Because a badge lapsed. Badges lapse when a domain verification record disappears from a domain we do not control. That has nothing to do with money, in either direction.
Long after the fact. Past a few weeks the money has usually already gone on a hosting bill.
Contributing buys nothing, so there is nothing you can be sold badly. If you sent something you did not mean to send, say so and you will get it back.
How to ask
Email support@privacytestlab.com or use the contact form. Include the reference code from the Support Us page — it looks like PTL-XXXXXX — and roughly when you sent it.
Returns go back the same way they came, to the same UPI ID or PayPal account. We cannot send money anywhere else, and we would not want to. Both the original payment and the return involve Bipul Debnath, who runs the site — there is no company account in between.
Chargebacks and disputes
Please contact us first. A dispute raised through PayPal costs a fee regardless of who turns out to be right, on money that was a contribution rather than a sale, and we would almost certainly have simply returned it if asked.
If the badge ever costs money
A business's first year of verification is free. Renewal after that is intended to be $10 a year, but renewals are not open, no payment method is set up for them, and we are not collecting card details for a charge that does not exist yet.
If that changes, every affected business will be emailed well beforehand, and this page will be updated with the terms before anyone is asked for anything.
